Teaching Certificate in Delaware

Each state has its own set of regulations for teaching certification. In Delaware a teacher's initial certification is valid for three years, and there are specific things to know in preparation for obtaining the credentials to teach in this state. It is important to make sure each step is followed and completed in order to be considered for employment.
Complete your education through an accredited college or university. Ensure that you have completed all the student teaching and educational requirements to receive your bachelor's degree. Student teaching is evaluated and determined by the educational director assigned for that specific institution.
Schedule, take and pass the Praxis I exam for the specific certification that is being sought. The testing requirements vary depending on the type of certification, so be sure you know what is required for the certification you seek.
Fill out the online application, which is entirely automated. Forward the official college transcripts, copies of test scores and any previous teaching certificates to the Delaware Department of Education Certification Division. Make sure that when sending the information it is properly addressed with attention to "Certification"
