Bebe Ross Coker awarded state's highest honor

Bebe Ross Coker was awarded the Order of the First State on Sunday, the highest honor that the governor of Delaware can bestow. Coker is an educator, playwright and activist. She has served on many boards and commissions throughout the state, including the New Castle County VO-TECH Board of Education, the Delaware Civil Rights Commission, the Christina Board of Directors (Old Swedes), the Grand Opera House Restoration Committee, the Wilmington Black Theater Ensemble, the Black Heritage Educational Theater Group, Circle of Caring Ministry Group, the Delaware Kenya Association and is the author of ongoing original productions.
