First Human Case of West Nile Identified

Public health officials say Delaware's first human case of West Nile virus this year has been identified.

The Division of Public Health says the case was reported in a 71-year-old New Castle County man. The patient has underlying health conditions and is hospitalized.

West Nile virus is transmitted by the bite of infected mosquitoes. Humans infected with West Nile virus often have symptoms similar to a mild flu.
