POW-MIA Day Honors Fallen Heroes

Veterans in Dover on Friday honored soldiers who never made it home as part of a local observance of National POW-MIA Remembrance Day.

For 12 hours straight, veterans took turns quietly standing at the Kent County Veterans Memorial Park in Dover. Approximately 83,000 are still listed as missing in action from every conflict since World War II. Kent County Vietnam War veterans want to make sure those who are still missing are not forgotten.

According to Vietnam veteran Terry Sammons, "I saw a lot of my buddies pass away and not come back and some are still missing. I want to see it resolved. I'm here to stand for the families who are still waiting."

There are still more than 1,000 soldiers missing in action from the Vietnam War.
